A chart title, label or text box can display the contents of a worksheet cell through a reference. Select the chart element, click the formula bar, enter an equals sign and select the source cell. Confirm the reference with Enter so later changes to that cell appear in the linked element.

Keep the source text in a clearly labeled worksheet location to make the connection easy to maintain. Microsoft lists several newer chart types where this linking feature is unavailable, including maps, treemaps, histograms and waterfall charts. Check support for the chart type before planning a report around dynamically linked titles.
